To ensure our OIT-managed devices meet campus security standards, UCI’s mobile device management tool, AirWatch, is required for all Mac devices.
What to Expect:
- Emails will be sent out to users with unenrolled devices, and OIT will schedule a time with them to process the enrollment.
Please note: After your device is enrolled, there will be changes to certain features:
- Devices that are stolen or lost can now be immediately wiped through AirWatch once the devices come back online.
- Enterprise Connect will now be the backup application for Mac devices:
- Once your device syncs with Enterprise Connect, your laptop password will be your AD/Email password.
- New screensaver policies will take effect:
- Your device name will now be your permanent screensaver.
- For security purposes, screensavers will appear after 10 minutes of inactivity. This will lock your account and require you to sign back in.
- iCloud will still be available, but you will no longer be able to save files on iCloud Desktop and Documents.
- These features will also no longer be available:
- Automatic login
- Sharing pane
- After 90 days of enrollment into AirWatch, devices must be upgraded to the latest MacOS. If you plan to run the upgrade yourself, please ensure your data and files are backed up.
