How do I access the course ?

Follow these steps to access the course:

  1. Login to UCLC at uclc.uci.edu (UCInetID Login Required)
  2. Type "cybersecurity" in the Search Box
  3. Click Start below the course "UC Cyber Security Awareness Training"

I completed this training last year - do I have to do it again?

Yes, Cyber Security Training is required to be taken by all employees every year by the University of California. In 2017, the Office of the President introduced a refresher course. Employees who took the full training last year may complete the annual training requirement by taking this shorter course, which takes about 35 minutes. For those who have not completed the full course, the updated program should take about 55 minutes.

How much time do I have to finish?

Current employees have until March 30th.  Employees hired last year have six weeks from their start date. If you took the course after March 1st, your deadline will be one year after you completed the course.

Do I have to finish the course all in one session?

No, the program is divided into modules.  The system saves your progress every time you complete a module.  You can then quit and resume at a later time.

What happens if I have to leave my workstation and resume the course later in the day?

Your UCLC authentication will time out after a specified interval on the module. If you return to the course before this timeout, and if you have not lost internet connectivity, you may continue where you left off. Otherwise, you'll have to resume at the beginning of your current module.

What browser can I use?

Microsoft Edge, Chrome, Firefox, and Safari all work.  With Safari, however, if you lose your internet connectivity while taking the course, it may lose all your progress, requiring you to start the whole course again. OIT recommends using a browser other than Safari

How do I get credit for completion?

If you complete all modules with a [%] correct answers, your UCLC transcript is updated.  OIT's IT Security team will be regularly reporting to your department who has completed the training.

What happens if I do not take the required training?

The Office of the President has asked for 100% compliance with the mandatory training, and has asked that managers make the training course an annual goal for staff in performance evaluations to be reflected on individual merit awards. The Office of the President has also asked that Deans and Department Chairs strongly promote faculty compliance with the training.
