Quick Start tips - after you are established as a Zoom user

As compared to ReadyTalk, Zoom is Internet first, phone second, whereas ReadyTalk was phone first, Internet second.  So be prepared to download & use the apps on your computer or smartphone.

What to do right away…

Respond to to Zoom account invitation message. Visit https://zoom.us and sign in. (link on upper right - sign in now and follow along)

In your account…

Visit My Profile (top left)
(Note for these settings there is a blue Edit link on the far right)

Recommendations regarding Zoom Personal Meeting ID and Personal Vanity ID

In the My Profile tab, edit the Global Dial-In Numbers to remove the (646 - New York) number for dialing in.  That number has a high toll rate.

Using Meetings

Whenever you are signed into https://zoom.us, there are three links at the top of the page. (Sign in, if you haven't already, to a separate window so you can follow along..)

In Schedule a meeting, under Advanced options, there is a setting for Alternative Hosts.

Alternative Hosts can start meetings when you’re not there.

Join a meeting by phone only

  1. Please see https://zoom.us/zoomconference for a list of dial-in numbers by countries. (408)638-0968 is best for California.
  2. You will be prompted to enter the meeting ID - the nine (9) or ten (10) digit ID provided to you by the host
  3. You will be prompted to enter your unique participant ID - Press # to skip
