NOTE: Outlook has recently changed it's setup procedure. Please see below.

If you have a UCI Gmail account and wish to access it using Outlook 2011 or 2016 for PC, follow these steps:

  1. Ensure “allow less secure apps” is enabled in your Google profile.
    • Please note that if you've enabled Google's 2-factor authentication, you'll have to generate an application-specific password for Outlook. These instructions will guide you on how to do that.
  2. Ensure that IMAP is enabled in your UCI Gmail account
    1. Sign in to your UCI Gmail.
    2. Click the gear icon on the top right of the page and select Settings.
    3. In the Forwarding POP/IMAP tab, under IMAP Access, select Enable IMAP. It should now say Status: IMAP is enabled.
  3. Add your UCI Gmail account in Outlook
    1. In Outlook, select the File tab.
    2. In the Info tab, click Add Account.
    3. When prompted, enter your email address and select Advanced Options. Just below it, check the box "Let me set up my account manually" and then click Connect.
    4. On the Choose account type page, choose Google and then select Next.
    5. Use the following settings and the select Connect.
      • Incoming mail:
        • Server:
        • Port: 993
        • Encryption Method: SSL/TLS
      • Outgoing mail:
        • Server:
        • Port: 465
        • Encryption method: SSL/TLS
    6. A pop up will appear shortly. Enter your UCI Gmail password and check the box to remember your password, then select OK.
    7. On the Account setup is complete window, uncheck the box to set up Outlook mobile on my phone too, and then select OK.
    8. You'll be prompted one or two more times for your Gmail password (this is normal). Simply re-enter it, check the box to remember it, and then choose OK.
