As of Wednesday, July 3, OIT is still in negotiations with Wolfram on a new 3-year agreement which should conclude by mid-July. The site license may expire briefly during this time, but rest assured that it will be renewed soon. We apologize for the temporary inconvenience.
For the time being, please visit https://www.wolfram.com/mathematica/trial/ and sign up to get a 15-day trial license directly from Wolfram. You can use a different email address for 15 days to get another license, in case you're unable to get one using your uci.edu address.
Installing Mathematica for the first time
- Login to the Wolfram User Portal using your UCInetID@uci.edu email address. You can create an account for free if you don't already have one.
- Specify your Department from the pulldown menu. If yours isn't listed, choose Other and enter it in the field.
- The Product pulldown menu will default to the correct version: Mathematica for Sites (Single Machine). You can ignore the other option in the menu.
- The Version pulldown menu will default to the current version, but you can choose to download an older supported version. Select Submit when you're ready.
- Follow the steps on the next page to begin the download. The software will come with a key allowing its use for a limited period of time (15 days). Within a couple of days you'll receive an email with instructions on how to activate a key that will work through July of the following year.
NOTE: Home-use is permitted for faculty & staff members. Please complete the on-line Home-Use Form *after* completing the steps above.
Wolfram will automatically send you an email with instructions each year when it's time to renew the license.
