Before you begin

Visit our Service Catalog and order a license. You'll receive a confirmation email with the authorization codes for several versions of SPSS needed to activate the software.

Please note that the contract with IBM renews in December meaning the new license files won't be available until sometime in January. Rest assured you will still be able to use SPSS because even though the license expires on 12/31 of each year, there is a 45-day grace period where it will still work. If you obtain a new license just before the expiration date, OIT will email you the new code once they're ready in January. There is no way to expedite this.

Updating your license only

If you're installing SPSS for the first time, skip to the next section for instructions on how to download the software and perform the install.

  1. From the Windows Desktop, click Start > All Programs > IBM SPSS Statistics > SPSS License Authorization Wizard.
  2. The License Method dialog appears. Click the radio button next to License my product now then click Next.
  3. The Enter Codes dialog appears. Enter the authorization code for the version you installed and then click Next.
  4. The Internet Authorization Status dialog appears. In this dialog you should see a message such as “Successfully processed all codes.” Click Next.
  5. The License Completed dialog appears. Click Finish.
