Introduction
- We presume that you are familiar with the Bash shell of Linux and that you have a GUI installed as well. If you are unfamiliar with Linux, please stop and partner with your local IT support.
- This installation requires that you have administrator rights on the computer. If you are unsure, please partner with your local IT support.
- This installation will not work if you attempt it from off-campus, the campus wifi network, or ResNet without first running the Cisco AnyConnect VPN. Details on how to download and install the VPN can be found at oit.uci.edu/vpn.
- If a phrase is surrounded by square brackets, [like this], the brackets are used to set off a phrase. When typing, do not enter the brackets as part of the phrase.
Licensing Prerequisites
- To complete the installation, you must have the License File you received via email when your order was processed. If you need us to resend it, please email oit@uci.edu.
- The license file expires on June 30 of each year and must be renewed annually. There are separate order forms in the Service Catalog for employees and students.
Renew License Only (no software installation)
To renew your license and apply your new SID (license) file to your existing SAS installation, follow the steps below: (Note: It is recommended that the same identity that was used to install the software be used to renew the license).
- Stop all SAS processes that are running.
- Run SAS Setup from [!SASROOT/sassetup]
- Select Run Setup Utilities from the SAS Setup Primary Menu.
- Select Renew SAS Software.
- Specify the path to the SID (license) file.
- Your license is updated immediately. SAS Setup will report that the task was completed successfully.
- If errors occur, a message is displayed indicating the log files you should check.
- If the SAS installation data applies successfully, you can enter Q to quit SAS Setup and run the SAS System normally.
