If you have a UCI Gmail account and wish to access it using Outlook on the Mac, follow these instructions:
- Ensure “allow less secure apps” is enabled in your Google profile.
- Please note that if you've enabled Google's 2-factor authentication, you'll have to generate an application-specific password for Outlook. These instructions will guide you on how to do that.
- Ensure that IMAP is enabled in your UCI Gmail account
- Sign in to your UCI Gmail.
- Click the gear icon on the top right of the page and select Settings.
- In the Forwarding POP/IMAP tab, under IMAP Access, select Enable IMAP. It should now say Status: IMAP is enabled.
- Add your UCI Gmail account in Outlook
- Add your UCI Gmail account in Outlook
- In Outlook, select Accounts from the Tools menu.
- Click + in the lower left corner of the Accounts window.
- Select Email (Other Email for Outlook 2016)
- On the Enter your account information pane, use the following settings
- Email address: UCInetID@uci.edu
- Password: (your UCI Gmail password)
- User name: UCInetID@uci.edu
- Type: IMAP
- Incoming server: imap.gmail.com
- Port : 993
- Check Use SSL to connect box
- Outgoing server: smtp.gmail.com
- Port : 465 (or 587) - either should work.
- Check Use SSL to connect box
- Click Add Account.
